Woven Rugs: Inspiration and Customization with Kasthall at 100 Franklin
A woven rug combines texture, color, and pattern to create visual impact and emotion. Kasthall has been weaving rugs in the Swedish countryside for 130 years and continually pushes boundaries by asking, how can you translate inspiration into a rug? Can you harness a dynamic movement, catch a sun-faded memory, or evoke the feeling of a favorite painting in a woven design?
Even though Kasthall has been weaving for generations, there are still new designs to be discovered! With over one hundred solid yarn colors and multiple patterns to choose from, the possibilities are endless. We want you to join us for a night of inspiration and customization. Come see custom rug samples and the inspirations that urged their creation. Then, using your own inspiration, twist and combine wool yarns as you select colors and patterns for your own 6” x 6” rug sample. Please bring color swatches, fabric samples, or any other design inspirations. We also invite you to collaborate on a custom Rug Designer runner, we hope with an exciting result!
Kasthall’s history of solid craftsmanship and use of high-quality wool and linen results in creations that are not only beautiful but are durable enough to walk on and can be passed down from one generation to the next. Kasthall believes beloved custom designs can be an antidote to throw away fashion.
The workshop will be hosted in the DDG-designed building at 100 Franklin Street, in an apartment furnished by The Future Perfect. Rugs by Kasthall.
