Quilters Take Manhattan 2016 is the 6th annual fundraising event produced by the Quilt Alliance and it’s presenting sponsor Moda Fabrics. The nonprofit Quilt Alliance documents, preserves and shares the rich history of quilts and their makers.
QTM is a weekend-long celebration of quilts, stories and friends in the Big Apple to benefit the Quilt Alliance. The QTM Main Event is held at FIT on Saturday, September 23 with a hybrid format including speakers (Kaffe Fassett, Carolyn Mazloomi and Mark Lipinski for 2016), live oral history interviews, an exhibition of antique and contemporary quilts, a quiltmaking throwdown, book signings, vendors, silent auction and raffles. The Quilters Take Manhattan weekend of fun activities includes museum tours at the Museum at FIT, the Met Museum, the American Folk Art Museum, the Whitney Museum of Art, the 9/11 Memorial and the Brooklyn Museum. We also offer Garment District walking tours, a Broadway outing to see Beautiful and a Meet Our Sponsors event.
