Wikipedia is the 6th most visited website in the world, with over 5 million English language encylopedia articles. Yet this heavily used reference and information source is sadly imbalanced when it comes to topics relating to textiles history, the fiber arts and surface design.
The NYTM Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is guided by Richard Knipel, the Wikipedian in residence of the Guggenheim museum and hosted by the FIT Textile and Surface Design department and the FIT Library. This is your chance to contribute your textile knowledge and expertise by adding and editing articles in Wikipedia on topics related to textiles - their history, production and cultural importance.
