Join Kiva Motnyk of Thompson Street Studio for an evening quilting workshop.
We invite you to come and sit with us and exchange conversation, laughter and thought as we work together on new garments for our ongoing series, ‘with light.’ Weaving tools will be provided for those who wish to participate or learn. Sara Healy of Buckwheat Bridge Angoras will accompany us as special guest.
Using self-made sukumo, BUAISOU creates a fermenting vat following an ancient recipe called Jigokudate. In conjunction with New York Textile Month, BUAISOU Brooklyn hosts an open studio and Fresh Leaf Dyeing Workshops on Sunday September 18, 1-5pm.
The workshop will educate knitters on the importance of using ethically sourced natural yarns and how their choice can have a direct benefit on local producers and their families. New knitters will learn basic skills with an experienced teacher.
The textile-based works of life-long New Yorker Marilyn Henrion have always been deeply rooted in the urban geometry of her surroundings. Recent works will be on display and the artist will speak about her creative process.
