Online/ Workshop / Weaving
This virtual session explores the relationship between making, thinking, and collaboration in contemporary studio practice. Through a hands-on paper weaving workshop and group discussion, participants will investigate how ideas develop through experimentation, material engagement, and shared creative processes. The session encourages attendees to view the studio as a space where materials, concepts, and people come together to generate new possibilities for creative work.
Presented by Amanda Britton and Johanna Norry, the workshop draws from their ongoing collaborative studio practice and exhibition history. Over the past three years, they have developed a series of exhibitions exploring materiality, process, and collaborative authorship. By sharing elements of their approach, they invite participants to consider the studio as a site of artistic, material, and social exchange, where meaning emerges through dialogue, experimentation, and collective making.
Participants are encouraged to have a variety of paper, photos, thick fabrics, scissors and tape at the ready for the virtual workshop portion.
Amanda Britton and Johanna Norry are textile artists and Assistant Professors in the Textiles + Surface Design program at Kennesaw State University located in Metro-Atlanta, Georgia. They received their MFAs from the University of Georgia. Featured in juried exhibitions and group shows across the country for the last decade, their collaborative work has been showcased in duo shows, Common Threads and Material Archive, at several galleries across Georgia and in 2027 will be featured at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Tennessee.
