In person / Workshop / Embroidery
The workshop will explore the possibilities of working 3-dimensionally to create textile sculptures, learning traditional hand-embroidery techniques alongside beading, couching and appliqué.
The workshop will cover the different stages of the design process from inspiration and idea development to final realisation.
Each participant will be provided with a recycled sketchbook for initial investigations and thought processes.
We will experiment with form, shape, pattern, colour, line, and stitch using recycled materials such as plastics, found objects and fabrics.
Jenni’s work will be exhibited during the workshop for participants to view and ask questions regarding her practice.
The workshop is free and available to the first twelve participants on the day.

Jenni Horton (JenniBurrowsArt) is a textile artist using embroidery techniques to creatively express our interrelation with experiences and processes.
‘Embroidery is often associated with solely decoration. In my work, thread stitches together key themes within our lives’; care, value, memory and community.’
Jenni completed an MA in Contemporary Embroidery at The School of Art, Architecture and Design (London), which has enabled her to develop her practice and exhibit internationally. Her work has been funded by the British Arts Council, leading inter-generational workshops in rural communities in the UK.
Jenni’s art was featured in a short film, ‘You’ll be fine’ and was premiered in London by the British Craft Council in London and subsequently screened worldwide.
