Drishti Jaggi is hosting The Art of Batik: Exploring Wax-Resist Textiles, an immersive workshop that introduces participants to the traditional art of batik and its contemporary possibilities. Through a hands-on exploration of wax-resist techniques, participants will learn how wax and dye interact to create layered patterns, textures, and unique textile surfaces.
The workshop invites participants to discover the process of designing on fabric through experimentation with wax application, color layering, and resist methods. Drawing inspiration from the rich cultural history of batik, the session encourages participants to explore their own creative expressions while gaining an understanding of this time-honored textile practice.
Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different tools, materials, and approaches to create their own batik-inspired textile pieces. The workshop is designed for all skill levels and welcomes anyone interested in textiles, surface design, and sustainable craft practices.
Through this creative experience, Drishti Jaggi aims to celebrate the beauty of textile traditions while encouraging mindful making, material exploration, and a deeper appreciation for the stories woven into cloth.

Drishti Jaggi is a New York–based textile artist and designer whose practice bridges sustainability with traditional craftsmanship. Her work explores the cultural significance of textiles through the use of natural fibers, natural dyes, and handcraft techniques. Alongside her studio practice, Drishti leads community workshops that promote creative reuse, textile education, and accessible making. She is dedicated to fostering inclusive and sustainable design practices that connect people through the shared language of textiles, craft, and community.
