Silk & Stone brings together two material worlds from one hand: the whisper-fine language of silk thread and the raw, gilded weight of concrete and gold. Sooi Silk Works presents an exhibition of contrasts — soft and hard, luminous and matte — united by the patient, handmade accumulation of material into meaning.
The silk works are hyperrealistic portraits of actual human faces, made entirely of silk threads, using a method that is slow, exacting, and unforgiving of error. Each begins as a simple sketch, then grows by hand, one stitch at a time, until thousands of stitches come together. Worked in monochrome, stitched by hand over months, these are slow objects in a fast world — one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces, intended to be passed between generations.
The stone works answer in a bolder voice: large-format canvases of concrete, cement, and rope, topped with gold leaf, alongside stonework. Gilded relief surfaces catch and return light, while poured concrete and knotted rope set raw weight and texture against the warmth of gold — large pieces made for expansive spaces, from private collections to hospitality interiors.
At the opening reception, the artist speaks about her process; throughout the run, an audio-visual presentation traces one portrait's creation, sketch to stitch.

Sadhana is a textile artist specializing in silk thread portraiture, working under the name Sooi Silk Works. Her monochrome portraits, built stitch by stitch in silk, achieve a tonal depth and precision more often associated with painting than embroidery. Trained at the Apparel Training and Design Centre in New Delhi and formerly with the Indian couture house Shades of India, Sadhana ran a custom apparel studio for a decade before devoting her practice fully to threadwork in 2015. She has since completed more than twenty international commissions.
