In person / Exhibition / Weaving
Every year, Intertwine Arts celebrates the artistry of disabled individuals with a major exhibition of fiber artworks created over the year in weekly weaving workshops. This year our theme is Touch, as the exhibition falls within both New York Textile Month and is in recognition of Blindness Awareness Month in October. These artworks are intended to be understood best by their tactile sensory qualities, and so yes, you will be able to touch the art! Taking place at the Positive Exposure Gallery, the exhibition opening will be 9/10 from 5pm-8pm, and the exhibition will run from September 1st through the 30th.

The artists represented are artists with disabilities from Intertwine Arts’ programs across four New York City boroughs of Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx. The disabilities experienced range from cognitive disabilities, to physical disabilities, to neurodivergence, to chronic illness, and more. All are burgeoning weavers and fiber artists, primarily exploring the woven medium. Their talents also extend into embroidery, crochet, sewing, and beyond.
