Textile Stories: Print, Stitch & Frame

  • Location to be announced (map)

In person / Workshop / Multiple Techniques

Sooteē invites visitors to experience the artistry and stories behind India's rich textile traditions through an immersive exhibition and interactive workshop. Blending contemporary design with centuries-old craftsmanship, the event showcases hand block printed and handwoven textiles alongside Shisha (mirror work) embroidery, exploring how traditional techniques can be reimagined as contemporary textile art.

Visitors will discover the creative journey behind each piece, from the carving of wooden printing blocks and the layering of intricate patterns to the thoughtful composition of textiles as framed works of art and functional objects for the home. The exhibition celebrates the craftsmanship, skill, and cultural heritage of the artisans who preserve these time-honored techniques while demonstrating how heritage textiles can be thoughtfully integrated into contemporary interiors.

The workshop offers participants an opportunity to explore the fundamentals of hand block printing, experiment with pattern composition, and gain insight into the enduring significance of India's textile traditions. Through live demonstrations, conversation, and hands-on participation, visitors will develop a deeper appreciation for the artistry, process, and stories woven into every textile.

Presented by Sooteē, a New York based home textiles brand, the event celebrates craftsmanship, sustainability, and cultural exchange while fostering a greater appreciation for handmade textiles as both functional design and contemporary works of art. Founded on the belief that every textile tells a story, Sooteē bridges India's rich artisanal heritage with contemporary design, creating timeless pieces that honor tradition while inspiring modern living.
