In person / Exhibition / Multiple Techniques
This Mortal Coil is a group exhibition exploring the fragile relationship between the body, memory, cultural belonging, and the passage of time. Bringing together artists working across textiles, sculpture, installation, and mixed media, the exhibition considers how personal and collective histories are carried through material and embodied experience. Themes of nostalgia, homeland, diaspora, transformation, decay, and anemoia emerge throughout the works, reflecting on how we construct a sense of belonging through memories—both lived and imagined.

Drawing inspiration from nature, religion, and traditional craft, Ollie Hongji Li is a Brooklyn-based textile artist and designer whose practice explores gender, identity, cultural heritage, and belonging. Using Chinese knotting, knitting, crochet, weaving, spinning, and natural dyes, he reinterprets traditional techniques through a contemporary lens. Ollie holds an MFA in Textiles from Parsons School of Design and received the Surface Design Association’s Creative Promise Award in 2023. His practice bridges contemporary fiber art, design, and fashion, with work spanning international exhibitions, community-based Chinese knotting workshops, and collaborations with notable fashion brand such Miu Miu and Dr. Martin.
